Holistic & Traditional Approaches to Fertility
|
|
WESTLAKE COMPLEMENTARY MEDICINE is an integrative medical practice with a clinic located in Westlake Village, Ventura County, California, where the wisdom and holistic approach of Acupuncture & Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) are combined with the science and technological prowess of Western Medicine to treat infertility, and other reproductive disorders.
For over a decade, Dr. Ray Rubio, D.A.O.M., L.Ac. FABORM, has been helping couples stuggling with infertility. Combining evidence-based research protocols, western medical diagnostics, fertility acupuncture and the accumulated knowledge of nearly 3000 years of Traditional Chinese Medicine, we bring the best of both worlds to help our patients fulfill their dream of starting a family.

Network of Infertility Specialists
|
|
Our philosopy is rooted in our deep respect and compassion for our patients. We approach each patient individually, and look to design our infertility treatment plan based on what will be the most expedient path to conception, while taking into account the very personal needs of that particular patient.
In order to more completely serve the unique needs of our patients, we have developed a referral network of fertility specialists and resources to complement our acupuncture and infertility treatment protocols, including Reproductive Endocrinologists, OB/Gynecologists, Mind/Body Counseling, and nutritionists, each uniquely qualified to aid in our patient’s path to pregnancy.
At Westlake Complementary Medicine, we believe that the goal is not just getting pregnant, but staying pregnant, promoting a balanced and healthy gestational period, and encouraging post-partum care for the mother and new baby.

Female & Male Reproductive Treatments
|
|
We specialize in the treatment of infertility and other reproductive disorders - Female and Male - using fertility acupuncture, Chinese herbal medicine, and other TCM protocols. Peer-reviewed research on Acupuncture and Infertility confirms that five potential physiological mechanisms have been postulated for its positive effects:
- Acupuncture may mediate the release of neurotransmitters and stimulate the release of gonadatropin releasing hormone, thereby influencing menstrual cycles, ovulation and fertility.
- Acupuncture may stimulate blood flow to the Uterus, inhibiting uterine central sympathetic nerve activity.
- Acupuncture may stimulate the production of endogenous opiods, which may inhibit the central nervous system outflow and the biological stress response.
- Acupuncture may increase seratonin levels.
- Acupuncture may beneficially influence cortisol and prolactin levels during the medication phase of IVF treatment with a trend toward more fertile cycle dynamics.
These physiological effects may be helpful in the treatment of the following conditions related to Infertility:
